Mary Newell authored the chapbook TILT/ HOVER/ VEER (Codhill Press 2019), poems in journals including Talisman, Silver Pinion, Spoon River Poetry Review, About Place, The Hopper, Earth’s Daughters, Written River, BlazeVox, X-Peri, Ethel (forthcoming), and in anthologies including Civilization in Crisis (2020). Publications also include essays and ecocritical encyclopedia entries on Whitman and Dickinson. She is co-editor of Poetics for the More-than-Human-World: An Anthology of Poetry and Commentary (Spuyten Duyvil Press 2020) and of the in-process Routledge Companion to Ecopoetics due out late 2022.  A former Assistant Professor, she is an outside poetry editor for ISLE, curates the Hudson Highlands Poetry Series, and teaches occasional classes through The Poetry Barn. Newell (MA Columbia, BA Berkeley) received a doctorate from Fordham University with a focus on environment and embodiment in contemporary women’s writing.
