Dr. Michael A. Gold

Mike is a Research Professor and Associate Director at the University of Missouri Center for Agroforestry (UMCA).  Mike got his both his BS and PhD. in Forestry at Michigan State.  He has been involved with both temperate and tropical agroforestry for the past 35 years.  He was in the faculty at Michigan State University for 14 years focused on tropical agroforestry teaching and research.  At UMCA, his research focuses on development of market and consumer knowledge for specialty crops (e.g., chestnut, elderberry, pawpaw).  Mike teaches agroforestry in the Center’s, 100% online, Agroforestry MS degree and graduate certificate program (also available on campus) and advises many online graduate students.   He is active in the Center’s outreach and training programs including the Center’s annual Missouri Chestnut Roast and annual Agroforestry Academy.  Mike loves to hike in the mountains out west, spent time with family and friends, work in the garden, write the occasional poem and play a little guitar.
